Zion

Sunday June 26th

The drive from the Grand Canyon to Zion National Park was yet another beautiful stretch of road, with the scenery changing every few miles.  From orange desert rocks, to cliffs, to pine forest and then suddenly huge stone cliffs.

On the way, we caught a glimpse of a herd of Buffalo!

Zion National Park is gorgeous.  You drive through a canyon, including a mile long tunnel to get there and each switch back holds a postcard view at every turn.
On the way into the park.
The park then has a shuttle ride through a different canyon that takes you to various trail heads and viewpoints.  Due to our leg muscle fatigue from hiking the Grand Canyon, and my sore knee, we chose to only walk a couple of the easy, paved trails.  We'll have to come back someday and climb up the peaks.  Even the paved trails held gorgeous picturesque views.

We camped again that evening in their campground on-site.  It was quiet and calm in the evening, but during the night horrible winds came through and the noise made it very difficult to sleep.  Luckily our little tent survived just fine.  After a delicious breakfast of eggs and hashbrowns, we packed up and headed to Las Vegas! (and some real showers!)

Our packed car with the hitch.  The hitch box swings closed once we close the back car door.  Thanks Andy and Katie!

Stay tuned for more updates - on to our Las Vegas adventures!
